The Coastal Alliance For Aquaculture Reform has local people working on regional issues in coastal communities all along the BC coast. Currently there are local coordinators working on issues in Georgia Strait and Sointula.

The Coast Mobilization Team's efforts to save wild salmon involves:

  • engaging local government, residents and First Nations on a range of salmon farming issues;
  • responding to referrals on new salmon farm applications in the area, and providing input and analysis to environmental assessment reviews;
  • communicating with diverse stakeholders who may be affected by new farm applications, and assisting them in voicing their opposition;
  • organizing the community around special events focused on saving wild salmon; and
  • informing community residents and businesses about opportunities for public input.
